Family Tree with Birds

Here it is...missing a few labels because I need information.

The birds represent family members - starting w/our kids, then going to us ,then our parents, and grandparents.  No aunts/uncles/cousins -- too many birds!

Click on the pic to see better detail.  I used glitter dots to show the "family connections".  (This is a scraplift from something I saw in a magazine.)

This will be the "title page" in my super big ass huge Martha Stewart album.

Big Ass Huge Scrapbook

I bought a big ass huge scrapbook today.  Much bigger than 12x12.  It's a Martha Stewart.  I plan to put portraits in it...and make it be like a coffee table book.  Though we don't really have a coffee table anymore.  Not really sure where this big ol' thing will live -- but I don't care, I'm gonna have fun with the BIG pages!!  And it will be nice to put the portraits somewhere and still enjoy them long after they've moved out of frames.

Also ... only 2 more weeks of sweeps left.  Hopefully I'll have more time for regular blogging....

No Frost!

There's a frost potential sometime this weekend....and considering all the flowers I JUST planted...I'm really hoping that doesn't happen here!  I'm DONE being cold!  I even put all my winter clothes away.  Grrrr.

So, it's Saturday.  Mom survived the week (so far.)  I'm on call this weekend (boo.)

I hope to finish my LOVE chipboard book today.  It's not turning out wonderful - it was hard to wrap my brain around scrapping on the weird shape - and keeping in mind the other side.  But it was a good exercise ... and I think my future chipboard books will be better.  I am going to unbind it - because it's just gotten too fat and won't close.  I'll hold it together with rings or ribbon or something.  So...hopefully I post that "Complete" project this weekend!

Scrap Update

So, in my continuing effort to pare down the crap everywhere, I've tackled layouts that I did in CKU or store classes or whatever, that either just needed pictures added or the second page done or whatever. It's actually made it appear as if I'm cranking out layouts -- when actually, I'm just forcing myself to "complete" these huge stack of layouts that are oh-so-close to being done. Of course some of them are dated ... or because they're a CKU class or something, not really my style, but they're getting done and "albumed." This is a good thing. I've taken some pictures and FINALLY updated my slide show ... which was so boring with the same darn thing all the time. I'll update the other one soon too. My blog was getting so stale!

So ... back to work, I'll update more pages as I get them done. Oh, and GO DAVIDSON!

So Much Going On....

1. I wanted to post about the wedding we went to. It was very untraditional...with some traditional mixed in. It was at the Boulevard Brewing company. On the way there, I was a bit concerned for my safety, but once I found it- - hidden behind some old buildings -- I was surprised to find a very nice place! It seemed bright shiny and new...and possibly a neat tourist attraction. (To tour the brewery.) The room was a big open area, with lots of round tables and a big bar. We went in, got some drinks and sat down at the big round tables. The wedding proceeded then -- up at the bar area. The groom came into the room to the Van Halen song "Hot for Teacher" ... which was actually very cool. (She was a teacher.) She came in to some song about birds and wings I'd never heard before, but it was very pretty. Her dress was GORGEOUS. It looked vintage ... kind of cream with embroidered roses in a light tan-ish or candlelight color. It looked like a wedding dress ... but seemed "antique" and was so pretty. The ceremony itself was quite short...traditional vows etc. One neat thing: a reading. Not your normal bible verse or poem -- it was an excerpt from "The Velveteen Rabbit." It was perfect and had lots of folks wiping tears. It was a very cool wedding .... it felt very "hip." I love all the different ways weddings can come together ... and have often thought being a wedding planner would be a fun job.

2. Croptastic Weekend
It was mostly just me and Dana...but we had a great time! And both of us got a LOT done. She did a bunch of page kits ... and I worked on an entire album of our cruise to Cabo in 2006. I only have two more layouts to do in that album - and it will be COMPLETE! I'll take a couple pics of some of the layouts and add them to my slide show. It felt real good to get so much done.
We watched a couple "dud" movies ... but probably good to watch while scrapping - because you didn't have to give them your full attention. Oh -- and Lisa did come by and scrap for awhile! It was good to hang with her....even for a short time. Anna CLAIMED to have hurt her finger, and ended up not coming. (ha ha).

3. The concert ... separate blog.

4. Soccer has been cancelled for the weekend ... so I'm looking forward to a weekend of NOTHING planned! Karlyn: I'll be sending you that email I promised!

Let the Cropping Begin!

dcLast night's wedding was very neat -- very "hip." I'll have to blog about that later.

But now, it's time to call Dana and get our crop on!

Last night I was up until 2:00am doing stuff around the house and watching Steel Magnolias. Good gosh -- I've seen it a million times and still bawled like a baby. Oh yeah, I started crying BEFORE the crying parts because I knew they were coming! Sheesh!

Ok ... enough typing, I'm keeping Dana waiting!

Wooooohoooooo -- let's hope I can update my slide show with LOTS of new pages this weekend!

Really glad it's Friday. It was a tough week...I'm beaten down.

Jack has his last basketball game tomorrow. In between Nick and Kyle's bball...two more weekends for them. It will be nice to get a break from sports for a bit. Though soccer starts up...but I'm hoping games don't start for awhile. And we gotta get Jack signed up for baseball or he'll freak. Sounds like another full summer of kids' sports.

I hope to finish my bible verses this weekend -- and do/finish my recipe swap and finish up the ornament album. I HOPE. And if I'm really rockin' - finish the LOVE CB album. It would be great to check those all off my scrap "to do" list. It would be nice if the house were completely clean and in order ... so we didn't have to do any house stuff...and just enjoy the weekend. But cleaning up after boys is like shoveling in a snow storm.

I'm thinking a lot about one of my co-workers...who left suddenly yesterday because her mom didn't show up somewhere and wasn't answering her cell...and people were concerned. She found her mother had unexpectedly passed away. I'm very sad for her. She's in my thoughts and prayers big time. It's more sad because she always talked about her mom - funny stories -- and it was part of who she was...so those of us who know her -- who may have never met her mom -- still have a little connection through all the stories. So so sad.

Oh .. I have to go into work Sunday. It's for a good reason and it's important ... but darn. When you've had the week I've had at work .... you really want to be completely AWAY from it for a couple days. And I was on call last weekend. But, it's sweeps, and you gotta do what you gotta do.

*sigh*

The Five:
1. Headache
2. Dirty (I need a shower.)
3. Dreading work
4. A little, tiny "blink" of relief/happy since it's Friday
5. Beaten down.

1. No confrontations.
2. To get Praise
3. To get an apology (it'll never happen)
4. Easy news day...not a NON-news day...but nothing crazy-ass that keeps me at work late.
5. No one ruins Survivor for me...since I didn't see it.
